The Cord film by director Allaith Hajjo and writer Rami Kousa wins the
Audience Award at the MENA Short Film Festival in its second session,
which was held in the Dutch city of The Hague between November 30
and December 1 of the current year.
The film competed for four awards in this edition that witnessed the
participation of 12 films from nine Arab and foreign countries. And it
represents the severe journey of a married couple who are living in one
of the sieged Syrian neighborhood, the wife enters an early labor, and
we experience the labor risks and pain a moment by moment while the
sniper’s bullets prevents the midwife from reaching the mother.
It is noteworthy that The Cord had won the best Scenario Award at
both the Casablanca Arab Film Festival and the "Festival du Court-
Métrage d’Auch", which was held in France last year.
