The Cord film by director Allaith Hajjo will be screened at the fifth edition of the South Korean film festival “Gwangju”, which starts on Saturday 16/11/2019 with the participation of 4 Arabic films.

The festival focuses on films that reflects the impact of conflicts and wars in the Arab region on the increasing number of refugees.

The film begins when Nada feels severe pain a month before giving birth due to the stress and exhaustion of the blockade on her neighborhood. Her husband’s attempts to reach the midwife, who lives on the other side of the neighborhood, fail because of a sniper threatening the lives of anyone who crosses the street.

The husband tries to negotiate with the sniper to allow the midwife to cross the street but fails to convince him. His wife gives birth in the trunk of the car, prompting the husband to take revenge on the sniper in a strange way.

It is noteworthy that the film won the best screenplay award at the Casablanca Film Festival in its second edition, which was held between 18-25 October.
